Why Chad Should Love Bees.
So Chad wants to know how I will take over the world with my army of bees. Well I may not take over the world with them, but they will at least keep the world turning. So why bees? Bees may scare the heck out of some people, but they really are harmless. Unless you are deathly allergic to them you really have nothing to fear. Bees are a miracle of nature and without them nothing would exist. With spring just around the corner take time to appreciate the bee and all they do instead of running away.
So what makes them so good you may ask? First off they make honey, another miracle of nature. Honey has amazing properties that that can do anything from healing a wound to soothing a sore throat. I had a friend who's horse went through a fence and was cut up worse than I had ever seen. His front leg had all of the skin and muscle peeled back almost to the bone. After cleaning the wound and placing a few stitches the vet then packed the wound with raw honey and then stitched everything shut. We kept applying honey to the wound and when it finally healed there wasn't even a scar.
Honey can give you an energy boost, fortify your immune system, make you look younger, and help cure just about any problem you can think of.
O.k. so honey is just the beginning of the bees arsenal. They also pollinate the plants we eat. Sadly bees are suffering a major decline in numbers and no one can really pinpoint a reason why. There are several theories but nothing is for sure. So if bees disappear so does the food. They also produce propolis a resin like substance that they seal their hives with and use to prevent disease. People use propolis for several health reasons, mostly for its antibiotic properties. Then there is royal jelly. The worker bees produces this to feed the larva in the hive and again humans use this substance for its health benefits. Next comes beeswax. Beeswax is used in everything from candles to chapstick.
So in the end there is no reason to fear bees, they are not out to get you. Instead they should be appreciated and more people should be concerned about their disappearance. Without bees there will be no you and me.
